When it was all over it was getting dark and snowing heavily. The last thing we wanted was feminine tattoos to be snowed in. So we made a mad dash for our chalet to get our things together and make our escape.

Next up were the men (well what else is there ?). One by one they came under the lights and the judges’ scrutiny. Paul Teag had a menacing sea serpent on his thigh, which was done at the show by ‘the Wanderer’. Paul Peachy of Skin Graphics entered himself, as he is going for a complete body suit.

She also had some sort of flower arrangement on her bottom, which was impossible to get a good photograph of as she was shaking so badly !! (much to everyone’s amusement 1 might add).

Starting with the ladies, we were treated to some fine Celtic knot work, meshed with Red Indian symbols. Forests of flowers in bold bright colours complementing perfectly the delicate tracery of tattoo drawings.

But you can’t have all your events on the same day. By about three p.m. around twenty people had been co-opted into taking part, and with an audience of around a hundred people, the show began. The compere for the show was the exuberant Pat Ryalls sporting a very loud Technicolor yawn T-shirt, luminous green and black baseball cap, pink shades and big shorts.

This delayed tattoo show by about an hour while enough contestants were rounded up to make the whole show worthwhile. It’s a shame that the show hadn’t taken place on the Satu rday night as the place was packed and there were tats in abundance.
