It was a bit quiet out there in events land last month but as you can see from the calendar section, gatherings are coming up, so get your tattoo trousers on! Thanks for the nice comments, invitations and hospitality that have been offered on all fronts.

I feel that European tattooing has a stronger foundation in an artistic sense than American tattooing. I believe that is partially from exposure from the many museums, architecture and art that is found on every street corner. Europeans have the good fortune of being consciously or subconsciously constantly surrounded by art.

Unfortunately in the following yeais ninny of these artists eithei disappcaicd orhioke oil into the ih;o traditional movement I found disappointing that tattooisls capable of pushing the envelop of tattooing as art. insteid leliimed to its foundation.

My wife Terri and I had the best time; we fell in love with Spam, the wine, the food, and the people. We got to work in Ibiza thanks to Mao and Juan and we got a little of the island fever. At the convention we had a chance to see tattooing with the European edge.

I start tattooing eleven years ago and it lias given me the choice to travel and see the world, meet interesting people, and make new friends. My past journeys to Europe and Spain have helped to shape the artist and person that I am today My first trip to Spain was for the Madrid Convention hosted by Mao and Cathy Tattoo.

Organized for the first time in 1995 by Jumpers MC, the      convention      of Lausanne quickly acquires a great success by its organization and the quality of the selected artists. The  last  edition  taken again by Ethno Tattoo (and with   the   help   of   our friends) gained a sharp success in 2001: more than 7000 visitors! Well

I took part in many conventions around the world as the   Borneo,   Amsterdam, Derby,    Zurich,    Boston, Florence or Barcelona ones. We also organize the tattoo
who is my shop manager, also works for the organization of the convention.

So, it is possible to be tattooed by Borneo Headhunters and Hori-Hiro in Lausanne… We also create custom-tattoos by
three artists together, to mix our three cultures on the skin.

I also have guest artists once in a while from “East & West inc”. Created in 1999 “East & West” opens the minds on other cultures: BorneoHeadhunters from Borneo and Hori-Hiro from Japan regularly come to Lausanne to satisfy the increasing demand in traditional hand-made tattoos.
